Seller's Description

Genuine Antique 9ct Gold Amethyst Pearl Spider Bug Bar Brooch Pin

Hello there and welcome (kroeso) to my wee store.

I sell online in high-end shops and websites and pre-Covid used to attend trade fairs around the globe.  I have a huge stock of "bargain basement" items which were great at fairs for inexpensive extras.  I also have a massive stock of highly valuable and collectable items never seen before on the internet.

I find it heart-breaking that brooches such as this no longer seem to have the appeal they once did as they are one of the most versatile pieces of jewellery you could have.
A bug brooch like this could be worn on so many pieces of clothing providing an elegant statement and luckily these brooches remain popular.

ABOUT THIS BROOCH
Constructed from solid 9ct rosey gold (375 parts per 1000)
Fully maker assay marked old style UK.  X-ray tested.  Maker CS*FS
Dates to latter end of the 19th Century (c1880s)
The style is classic Victorian, of very sturdy construction and high quality.
A lot larger and thicker than many similar style brooches.
Gemstones: Natural rose cut stunning amethyst and white pearl to the body.
Fastens with a gold hinged pin and O hook clasp - all in good order.
Condition is excellent, especially considering its age.

Length is 76.5mm.
Width is 20 mm.
It sits 14 mm proud.
Weight is 7 grams (rounded up to nearest)

You would expect to pay between £1,000 and £2,000 for a brooch like this at a fancy antique shop, depending on your ability to hunt down a bargain.

Fully insured and tracked postage MUST be purchased with this brooch.

CONDITION REPORT
Many of my brooches are VERY old and have some signs of this.  I ensure they are fully operational and can be worn from arrival but I do not like polishing them to "as new" because I feel this detracts from their history.  I will consider doing so, for a small fee, if you ask nicely ;-)

I guarantee all items to be as described and will accept a return on anything you are not happy with.
Please contact me directly via messaging should you wish to do this.
