Original British 11 inch x 8 1/2 inch Double-Sided Trade Advertisement from Kinematograph Weekly for the 1951 Jacques Tourneur Adventure ANNE OF THE INDIES starring Jean Peters, Louis Jourdan, Debra Paget, Herbert Mardhall, Thomas Gomez and James Robertson Justice.
In order to recover his ship impounded by the British, former pirate captain LaRochelle agrees to spy on the notorious Caribbean Sea pirates Blackbeard and Anne Providence..
The advertisement artwork is by A. “Jock” W. Hinchliffe.
Hinchliffe was born in Perth, Scotland. In 1953 he had a studio in Chalk Farm, North London, where he produced a series of six oil paintings as publicity for 20th Century Fox’s “The Robe”. He had been engaged by Fox in 1926 and produced posters and ads continuously for them, and for Disney, well into the 1960s.
On the reverse is 1951 Norman Z. McLeod Crime Comedy MY FAVOURITE SPY starring Bob Hope, Hedy Lamarr, Francis L. Sullivan, Arnold Moss and John Racher.
A burlesque comic, who resembles an international spy, is recruited by the government and sent to Tangier to retrieve a sensitive microfilm before it's captured by hostile foreign agents.
