Seller's Description
Original 15 3/4 inch x 23 1/2 inch Engraving titled THE ALARM.
Print by Eugène Froment (1844-1900 after). Wood-engraver; trained in France and later worked in London; exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1866. Often collaborated with his son Emile.
From the picture by Toby Edward Rosenthal (1848 - 1917). An American painter. Moving to San Francisco with his parents in 1855, he there studied painting under Fortunato Arriola. In 1865 he went to Munich, where he was a pupil of the Royal Academy under Strachuber, Karl Raupp and Karl Theodor von Piloty. He received medals in Munich in 1870 and 1883, and in Philadelphia in 1876. Except for some visits home, his professional life was spent in Europe.

The Graphic was a British weekly illustrated newspaper, first published on 4 December 1869 by William Luson Thomas's company Illustrated Newspapers Limited. It continued to be published weekly under this title until 23 April 1932 and then changed title to The National Graphic between 28 April and 14 July 1932; it then ceased publication, after 3,266 issues.
The engraving is in very good condition with 1 vertical centre fold. Printed text on the reverse
