Adventures on PLANET OF THE APES 1 & 2! Marvel Comics, 1975! Both FN/FN+! $40.00 Shipped!!
Marvel Comics released these in 1975 after the Movie became a huge smash! Both are in FN to FN/FN+ condition with all pages complete! Issue # 1 appears to be sun-faded from apperently being displayed in a window back in the day...but is otherwise very solid!
Issue one features these immortal words by Astronaut George Taylor..."There's only one reality left. We're here and it's now. You get a hold on that and quit feeling sorry for yourself, or you might as well be dead!" After being in suspended animation for a long time, their space ship lands on a strange planet ruled over by Warrior Apes! Finding water, the astronauts take off their clothes and go swimming, But a hidden observer steals the clothes from the shoreline. Discovering the theft, Taylor and the others track the thieves down. They find a colony of mute, savage human primitives and an attractive dark-haired woman that immediately catches Taylor's eye. Suddenly, a pack of horseback riding, rifle-bearing gorillas storm through the brush and begin hunting the savages. Taylor and the others have no choice but to flee along with the others. A rider's bullet fells Dodge, and Landon disappears among the crowd. As the gorillas chase them through the fields, the hunt leader begins speaking to one of his confederates and expresses shock at the idea that he heard one of the humans speak!
Issue Two sees Taylor suffers a throat injury and is captured by the gorilla hunters. He is taken back to Dr. Zira's hospital in Ape City for treatment. Because his injury has rendered him mute, the other apes of the city do not realize that he is different from the mute primitives. Zira's people dress him in rags and cage him next him to a female human named Nova! Taylor manages to wrangle Zira's notepad and pencil away from her. He scribbles down, "My name is Taylor" onto the pad. Zira's assistant, Julius, snatches the pad away from him and gives it back to Zira. Zira reads it and says Taylor's name aloud. A look of shock falls across her face!!
