Seller's Description
A Treasury Of Hans Christian Andersen - Translated by Erik Christian Haugaard - International Collectors Library
I will be listing a few of these International Collectors Library Books. The lady I got these books from was downsizing and could not take her sizable library with her. Her loss is your's and my gain. If you like these collector books, please come back often as it will take me a while to get them all photographed and listed.
From the way the pages feel, I don't think she read most of the books she collected, just put in her bookcases.
This book has a problem with the original binding, I have added two pictures to show you. When the book was glued, it appears that some of the glue stained the inside covers, both front and back when pressure was applied. None of the other pages of the book have any stains at all.
This book was copyrighted in 1974 by Erik Christian Haugaard and printed in the USA.
This book contains the complete Andersen's fairy tales and stories 72 in total.
Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish author and poet. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, Andersen is best remembered for his fairy tales, a literary genre he so mastered that he himself has become as mythical as the tales he wrote. Andersen's popularity is not limited to children; his stories - called eventyrs, or "fantastic tales" - express themes that transcend age and nationality.
During his lifetime he was acclaimed for having delighted children worldwide and was feted by royalty. Andersen's fairy tales, which have been translated into more than 125 languages, have become culturally embedded in the West's collective consciousness, readily accessible to children, but presenting lessons of virtue and resilience in the face of adversity for mature listeners/readers as well. They have inspired motion pictures, plays, ballets, and animated films.
The book is covered in a Slate Blue leatherette with a gilt foil decoration on the cover and spine.
528 pages of intrigue to keep you reading page after page.
There is no SMRP. The size of the book is 6 inches by 8½ inches and over an inch thick.
I do combine shipping on multiple purchases at just 0.50 cents per additional book.
Please e-mail me with any question.
I have taken all of the photos, they show the condition of the book or item. I do not retouch any part of the photo, what you see is what you get. If you require additional pictures please be specific in what you want.
Pay pal is preferred and item is shipped next day.
