Question From pobjoy [+6] Tue 27 Sep 2022 18:57:33 (EDT) Hi ROB online 2018,
I may be interested in purchase of this tripod. Two questions. Do the legs have significant side-to side play when the brace is half open? Could you please provide a close photo of the canopy (the part that joins the legs at the top)?

Answer From ROBonline2018 [+27] Wed 28 Sep 2022 06:01:05 (EDT) Hi again
The Prisma does NOT stay rigid until
it is fully open
I do have others that have just come in so
I will check those out next for you
I will hold off from the picture for now as the
Prisma may not suit you

Answer From ROBonline2018 [+27] Wed 28 Sep 2022 06:10:33 (EDT) I have a MIRANDA TITAN that does tighten up when half open - It has a Screw
Tightener on the central stem
I do Have two others that stay semi rigid
when half open but no tightening Screw
I am going to list all these starting today
but oif the Titan seems appropriate I can start with that one and send pictures

Question From pobjoy [+6] Wed 28 Sep 2022 08:28:33 (EDT) Hi ROB,
Thanks for your reply. If this Prisma is of the sort I think it may be, I would not expect the legs to tighten before they are fully open. That's because it is not a locking type, like the Titan. Tripods of this type and age are a bit prone to get damage to the pivot inside the canopy due to falls or twists. That means that a leg can move from side to side at the top. This is hardly noticeable when the brace is wide open, but the tripod will still not operate quite as it should, due to looseness. So if the Prisma is laid down with legs partly open, the canopy gripped firmly, and each leg is pushed to left and right as across a floor, there should be very little movement from side to side due to looseness. If there is much movement from side to side, there is no point in taking a photo, but if the legs seem sound, then I would appreciate a photo just to make sure it's the right Prisma (they made many models!).
Best regards, p

Question From pobjoy [+6] Wed 28 Sep 2022 10:15:01 (EDT) Hi Rob,
Many thanks for your efforts, and I hope you have success with these tripods. Unfortunately this Prisma is not the one I'm looking for. I will check out the others, though.
Best wishes, p
