In this book also is Anthony Phair's expedition in search of the treasure of the Incas in Peru; an account by Evans of the Broke of Admiral Byrd's flight over the South Pole, and the story of the lost mines of Muribeca, which led Colonel Fawcett to his search for the cities of the Incas.
Here is Norbert Casteret's record of his descent into the deepest chasm known to man, and Captain Cousteau's description of his first aqualung dive to prove that man can swim unencumbered in the depths of the sea.
This book ranges from the white desert of the Antarctic to the jungles of the Amazon, from below the sea to the highest mountains, from subterranean caverns to outer space. It is a book to thrill and to inspire the generation which follows today's explorers.
