About the Artists
Formed in April, 2002, Rant performed their first show in Ottawa in May, 2002 and have been winning fans and gaining recognition throughout Eastern Canada ever since. Rant, consisting of Glen MacIsaac (lead guitar & vocals), Rod Kreiger (bass guitar & vocals), and Rob Cook (vocals & rhythm guitar), recently completed their debut independent CD "Long Way Around".
This CD is a strong debut, full of cleverly-crafted songs, catchy choruses, backed by solid musicianship. A meld of diverse musical influences results in the unique blend of pop, rock, folk, and country that comprises Rant's sound. Lyrically the album touches on themes of love, freedom, longing, and uncertainty. In addition to launching their debut CD, Rant has been busy this past fall and summer performing at clubs in Halifax, Ottawa, Fredericton, St. John's and Toronto. The band has also played larger concerts with 54-40, Chantal Kreviazuk and Jimmy Rankin in St. John's and Sydney, enabling Rant to bring their music to a much wider audience. The band performed live on "The New RO" in Ottawa and was featured in the Newfoundland Herald and the Evening Telegram. In promotion of their new CD, Rant is scheduled to perform live on Breakfast Television in Halifax and the "Out of the Fog" television program in St. John's
