Seller's Description
Detailed Condtion : please see full item description below
DESCRIPTION | Superb, high quality antique English Georgian pierced solid sterling silver swing handled basket. Possibly once part of an impressive Georgian table centrepiece epergne but works equally well as a fully formed standalone basket. Although styled as the very much larger fruit and bread baskets of the period, this piece was intended for sweetmeats. |
SILVERSMITH | Thomas Foster, specialist maker of pierced baskets. The 'F' is very rubbed but Thomas's 'T' and position of pellet are distinctive. |
