Seller's Description
This is a lot of three postcards with views of ruins around the Belgian village of Kemmel. All have a cachet on the back which appears to read "Corps de prisonniers de guerre Compagne 6", suggesting they were sent by a Belgian prisoner in German hands. All were sent to the same address in 1918. They show :
- the cross-road "Pompier", with the Kemmel Hill behind
- one of the shelters on the road to Wytschaete
- "the summit of the hill, with the 'Bear' belvedere and landmark for the artillery"
The cards are in fair condition with minor wear to the corners and edges, and a few marks.
