While Mount Everest reaches higher into the atmosphere, as a geographic formation it is much smaller in total size than this mountain. What makes Mauna Kea the world's tallest mountain is its total elevation -- 32,696 feet -- most of it underwater.
The map on the reverse shows the world's oceans rather than the land masses, and identifies many zones and features
