Great LARGE autobiography hardback book from 1997 by M M Kaye. Part 2 of her autobiography. Contains photos. Binding and pages inside are in nice condition especially as the book is 28 years old.
In vol 1 M.M. Kaye recalled her idyllic childhood in India in the early years of this century. Mollie on the verge of womanhood feels gauche alongside her vivacious mother and the glittering socialites of the Raj, so the splendour and gaiety ofthe Delhi Season is not an unalloyed pleasure. But there are friendships and fun to compensate for social embarrassment and the trials of calf love; a growing talent for watercolour and dramatic design; sister Bets and her adored father Tacklow toconfide in. And above all, there is India - for Mollie's real love affair is with the country. Here she brings alive the glories of the Raj and the ceremonies of high-caste Indian life.
