Seller's Description
A charming image, as "Huckleberry Finn" walks down the road. A wealth of information is provided on this card. National Bridge #35-23-48.
"This bridge 33 feet long, located on Co. Road #108 near Lancaster, Ohio. One pioneer structure fast disappearing from the Ohio Scene is the picturesque covered bridge. In 1940 there were about 500 covered bridges in Ohio, but the present count has dropped to 231. Even with a decrease, Ohio still ranks second only to Pennsylvania in number of covered bridges. One of the best known covered bridges in Ohio is adjacent to Old Rock Mill in Fairfield County. This short covered bridge which is of the open type crosses the Hocking River only about 50 feet above the mill."
Nearly mint, with only minor wear, no writing or mailing. Photo by Art Zook and Hivnor Card #63076.
