Seller's Description
The back of this image, #W-4, reads, "During the fall and winter of 1864-65 this building was the headquarters of General Philip H. Sheridan, and from it he began his memorable ride to the battlefield of Cedar Creek made famous by the poem of Thomas Buchanan Read. The building is now the home of the local lodge, Order of Elks."
It's anybody's guess what the hey the red apple represents. This card, #45622, has no writing and never been mailed. The corners and edges are sharp around a pristine image.
