"We Wallace Drury of 125 Coltman Street, Brewer's Agent and William Kershaw Marsden of the Whalebone Inn, Church Street, Licensed Victualler both in the Town & County of Kingston upon Hull, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows: It comprises a tube of metal of suitable dimensions having an external thread or screw preferably conical in shapes, to fit a hole bored in the cask or shive, such tube having one or more arms into which one or more porous spikes can be inserted..."
