This is a warning to all who are considering purchasing from this seller. This item was purchased on the 2nd of January 2003 and as of today, 30th March 2003, I have not received the item (or 3 others purchased at the same time) or had a refund. In addition to the shipping charges I paid a fee for insurance, and when I first started emailing the seller he said my money was safe and that although the goods had been shipped if they didn't arrive he would refund my money. He then said that he thought a mistake had happened and that the goods from the USA (2 items) had been sent by sea freight rather than airmail but that he would refund the money for items supposedly coming from the Far East, that was on Feb 16th and no refund has been received. As time went on his attitude changed, at first he changed his story regarding the insurance stating it covered "damaged items only" much later when I became convinced that I was being taken for a ride his attitude became abusive and what follows is the last email I received from him: QUOTE/ IF THIS IS YOUR ATTITUDE-IN THAT CASE I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO KNOW.PLEASE THREATEN YOUR FRIENDS WITH LEGAL ACTION ETC- I REALLY WOULDNT LIKE TO GO DOWN TO YOUR LEVEL.AND PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER ME ANY FURTHER- I SHALL TEACH YOU A LESSON HOW TO BEHAVE ON THE WEB.I CANNOT SEE YOU DEALING ON THE NET FOR 4 YEARS-PERHAPES WITH 1 POUND MERCHANDISE.YOU HAVE A LOT TO LEARN PAL. THANK YOU AND GOODBYE. /UNQUOTE I have attempted to obtain help from the owners of Ebid, although they did respond saying they had contacted the seller they refused to provide a proper contact address for the seller or offer any hope of resolving the problem. Maybe I am just unlucky, there does seem to be customers who have received goods without a hitch, however any seller who refuses to give a contact address must be treated with suspicion. I see he no longer offers insurance on his goods and states that buyers purchase at their own risk. He states he trades from London, but is not resident in this country and although he says he has an ofice in the UK he refuses to give the address. I now have no choice but to put the matter in the hands of the police.

took forever- rattled about in box-not very well packaged-

Not mailed until 2 weeks after the auction [according to the stamp] and then 6 weeks to arrive from USA - that seems normal from other auctions so UKSURPLUS is being very optimistic in quoting 2 weeks for surface mail. The item is as advertised.

After winning auction I offered to pay via escrow, I was told via email that wasn't possible and that UKSURPLUS had no knowledge of my transaction.

I HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS IS THE MOST POORLY PRODUCED PIECE OF RUBBISH THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISS FORTUNE OF BUYING. I TAKE MY SHOOTING QUITE SERIOUSLY AND NOT ONLY IS THIS CROSSBOW A PIECE OF TAT, I WOULD SAY IT IS DANGEROUS, NOT ONLY TO ANYONE STANDING ANYWHERE NEAR IT BUT TO THE SHOOTER AS WELL. IT HAS SCREW HEADS PROTRUDING, THE SIGHT SCREW HOLE WAS TOO BIG AND THE WIRE SPARKED WHEN FIRED. I TRIED TO GIVE IT A GO, BUT IT ONLY PROVED ME RIGHT WHEN THE CORD ( OR SHOULD I SAY WIRE) ASSEMBLY FLEW APART, CUTTING MY HAND, AFTER ONLY 4 SHOTS. APART FROM THE FACT THAT IT'S JUNK, WHY WAS NOTHING SAID ABOUT THE EXTRA £17.70, I HAD TO PAY WHEN THE THING TURNED UP AT MY HOUSE. IT MIGHT SEEM OK SELLING TAT LIKE THIS TO KIDS WHO DONT KNOW ANY BETTER, BUT THOSE OF US WHO DO KNOW BETTER NEED TO EDUCATE PEOPLE. BELIEVE ME! THIS PRODUCT IS GOING TO HURT SOMEONE!!! I COULDN'T EVEN BRING MYSELF TO SELL IT ON, THE BEST THING TO DO IS TAKE IT APART AND DISPOSE OF IT! ALSO WHY DO YOU TRADE UNDER SEVERAL DIFFERENT NAMES? IS IT BECAUSE YOU SELL STUFF LIKE THIS? Arrived by international post in 9 days despite dire warnings on site about poss delay! £7.90 postage is a bit over the top for £1.75 of stamps and a brown envelope. Anyway, it's a good product, a fair price and I will do more trade with them. Thanks.
