MainlyTrains / Hornby Dublo Spares

Hello. Thank you for looking at my MainlyTrains / Hornby Dublo Spares “All About Me” page. I have sold Hornby Dublo items, especially locomotive spares, on another large auction site for several years. I have 100% positive feedback there (my user name there is shown on the logo on this page) and have a feedback score there of over 700 (over 900 individual transactions). I also have my own website through which a reasonably comprehensive range of such spare parts can be obtained.

I am based in the north west of England, in the Ribble Valley. My main hobby is model railways, especially model railways made by the Meccano Company in Liverpool up to 1964 and sold under the name Hornby Dublo (‘OO gauge’) and (to a lesser extent) Hornby (‘O’ gauge).

When I was a young boy in 1963 I was given a Hornby Dublo three rail train set by an older relative with the instruction “don’t get any more, it’s obsolete”. I ignored that then and I’m still ignoring it!

Hornby Dublo Spares: I try to keep a reasonable supply of surplus Hornby Dublo spares, loco subassemblies, etc., available, please get in touch if you wish. These sometimes come from locomotives which have been neglected and whose best use is as donors; I don't break up perfectly good locos.

The definitions which I use:

• Mint - In perfect condition.
• Near mint - Almost perfect, any imperfections will be extremely minor.
• Excellent - Very carefully used, only small imperfections.
• Very Good - Carefully used, imperfections are minor.
• Good - Will have had more use, showing obvious imperfections.
• Fair - Heavy signs of wear, major imperfections.
• Poor - Very distressed condition, with many faults.
• Plus - Where an item is better than its classification suggests.

Questions: If you have questions, please ask - it's best not to leave them too late in case I don't see them.

Payment: Please pay promptly, as credit control is no fun for either of us. If there has to be a delay, please let me know what you’re doing, I can usually work round it if I know…...Unpaid items: Please don’t bid if you don’t intend to pay! Payment by CHEQUE or POSTAL ORDER (STERLING ONLY please) is preferred, please make it payable to "Mainly Trains". Quicker and cheaper, BANK TRANSFER information will be provided on request. GOOGLE CHECKOUT is fine, and I can also accept PayPal although prefer not to owing to their high fees.

Description: If you are successful in buying the item, I don't want there to be any surprises when you open the package. I take care to accurately assess the item so I don't mislead you by overdescribing it. Having said that, many of the items I sell are fifty years old, and some have a history which is unknown to me. If, despite my best endeavours, there is a problem when you get the item, please get in touch by e-mail or phone so we can sort it out.

Shipment: I usually post the day after I receive cleared funds, and by the Wednesday or Saturday immediately after in any case. I pack securely, a mixture of new packaging and good quality recycled materials. If the item is at all delicate it will come in a sturdy box. I always get a proof of posting from the Post Office when the item is posted, and perhaps since I use highly legible printed address labels have had no difficulties with my packages getting lost. Let me know early if you require additional postal insurance.
