Update 22/07/25..

Just added a Peter the great Banknote in superb condition..

I remember years ago asking somebody why there are so many Peter the Great Banknotes available in London 

The answer  was that in the years before 1917 many wealthy people left Russia + fled over the mountains to Turkey 

taking bundles of these notes with them (Hoping to change them to US dollars at some stage)

And from Turkey these notes made their way slowyly to the rest of Europe 

Suppose this could be partly true  ...
