Original 1953 Re-Release German 23 inch x 33 inch Poster for the 1944 John Cromwell Drama SINCE YOU WENT AWAY, based on an adaptation of her book by Margaret Buell Wilder and starring Claudette Colbert, Jennifer Jones, Joseph Cotten, Shirley Temple, Monty Woolley, Lionel Barrymore, Robert Walker, Dorothy Dandridge, Hattie McDaniel, Alla Nazimova, Guy Madison and Rhonda Fleming.

Selznick’s patriotic tribute to the American home front during World War II, with Colbert and her daughters Jones and Temple battling against the anguish of wartime.

Poster art Ernst Herbert Adolf Litter (1918 - 2006). Born in Berlin, Litter was a German painter and graphic artist. His most famous works were created in the 1940s to 1960s. With around 600 designed film posters, he is considered one of the most productive poster graphic artists of his time. He began an apprenticeship as a printer in 1933 and attended the Berlin School of Applied Arts, where he was a student of Jupp Wiertz. In 1946 he began to create posters, advertisements and catalogues for Schorcht-Film. He has worked for various film companies including Herzog Film, Gloriafilm, Berliner Union-Film, Columbia Pictures, Constantin Film, Prisma Film and Atlas Film.

The poster is in very good condition with very minor fold separation.
