As the conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate, families have been forced to flee their homes and livelihoods in a desperate search for security. We are in contact with approximately 22 families (with 49 children), who have fled Gaza and made NSW their home. The Australian Government has granted these families with Tourist Visas, meaning they cannot work for 3 months or receive any Centrelink benefits. We are currently lobbying the Government to convert their
Visa’s to that of a Humanitarian (as they did when Ukrainians fled to Australia), yet they have been slow in response.
Considering how much trauma and suffering these families have been through, we are hosting a lunch for them on Saturday 20th April 2024 at our Community Centre. We are urgently seeking donations to aid these displaced families as they rebuild their lives in Australia.
