Original Italian 13 inch x 27 1/4 inch Locandina Poster for the 1959 Josef Heifits Romance THE LADY WITH THE LITTLE DOG (DAMA S SOBACHKOY), based on the novel by Anton Chekhov and starring Iya Sawina, Aleksey Batalov, Nina Alisova, Pantelejmon Krymov and Yuri Medevdev.
Attractive, meticulously played, subtly written, sensitively made film of Chekhov’s story about a Yalta turn-of-the-20th-century romance between a married woman and a man. Lovely but sad Sawina is holidaying with just a dog as company when she meets Moscow banker Batalov; they carry on back to Moscow.
The poster is in very good folded condition with a tear at upper right and a tax stamp with an ink pad stamp at upper right of the art.
