Dear Friends,
By tradition, needleworkers often celebrate “Christmas in July.” This means that you are beginning to choose patterns that you hope to stitch and display by Christmas, such as the Christmas stocking featured on our cover. You’ll find several more Christmas designs in this issue, too: “Holiday Joy,” “Christmas Tree Welcome,” “Ribbons and Holly Rocking Horse,” and more.
Needleworkers who are thinking ahead to Christmas are not just concerned about holiday decorating, however. Most of you are also working on your gift-giving lists. You are among the most generous people I know, usually giving away more of your handiwork than you keep for yourselves. For this reason, we’ve included in our “Christmas issue” some special designs that are perfect for giving to others. Our “Bear Hug” teddy bear is destined to be a favorite for adults and children alike, since we never outgrow our need to be loved and hugged! Stoney Creek’s jar lid cover designs will turn your extra canning jars of jam, honey, fruits or vegetables into “berry” special treats for Christmas or everyday giving. And the magnificent “The Lord is My Light” inspirational lighthouse scene will shine as a beacon of hope for your loved ones. What a fining gift to give as the calendar turns towards a new year and (soon) a new millennium: “The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
