Dit Da Jow is used mostly by Chinese martial artists (Kung Fu) to condition the hands (Iron Palm training) using wall bags, wooden dummy, etc.
Japanese martial artists (Karate) might also find it useful for use with the makiwara.
Sometimes also called "Fall hit wine" it has enjoyed traditional use in bruise management.
. The oil may be naturally cloudy and may throw a sediment. It may also contain some herb remnants.
Training:
It is usually rubbed onto unbroken skin before and/or after impact training. My kung fu elder brother advises to use afterwards only so that you can avoid working the jow into abrasions that might open up during conditioning work. Brewed for a minimum of 6 months in olive and jojoba oil from carefully selected herbs- no animal parts. Ingredients in this secret recipe include:
Su Mu (Sappan Wood)
Xu Duan (Dipsacus Root)
Tao Ren (Peach Kernal)
Jiang Huang (Turmeric)
Supplied in a glass bottle so it can be recycled and to prevent any reaction or leeching with or into the jow.
Conditioning is a regular and progressive practice (seek qualified/experienced tuition) Don`t overdo it!
Side effects, safety, drug interactions etc:
Oil based. Do not use on broken skin. Not for internal use - do not drink. If adverse reactions occur discontinue use.
Store in a cool dark place out of the reach of children.
