Found in a box from an auction. An old 1957 flexible metal ruler from the Ben Franklin Store in Kenmare, N. Dak (ND). The store was owned by Harold and Emma Hubbard. A rare find indeed.

I can still remember using this type of ruler in grade school, but that was half a century ago.

The ruler has seen a bit of use and the paint is wearing off in a couple of spots and 2 small rust spot (on the “O” in Owners and the July 1957 calendar). It has a 12 inch rule on the top edge and a 30 centimeter rule on the bottom edge. It also has monthly calendars covering from January of 1957 through to April 1958.

The ruler has a few scraps and wear marks on it but there are no kinks in the metal (A common problem with this type of Ruler.

This is a 12 inch ruler but it measures a bit longer.

The ruler measures approximately 12-3/8 inches long X 2 inches wide (31.5 X 5 cm). There a ¼ inch (.6 cm) hanging hole on the left end. It weighs ¾ ounce (25 gr.)

I found this ruler in a box of corn husk dolls that I bought at an auction. They were selling of the contents of a small museum, located in a campground, not too far from where I live.

The ruler will be wrapped in tissue paper and shipped in a large envelope, sandwiched between 2 pieces of light cardboard.
