CATALOGUE: We generally use the numbering of the WORLD COINS catalogue; if another catalogue is used, its name should be specified.

QUALITY: The condition of the item, indicated in the title and description, determines the quality of the item according to the following classification:

• PROOF= Coin produced especially for collectors or as a souvenir. They are selected from normal circulation or commemorative coins and undergo a polishing process that leaves the coin's field as bright as a mirror. They are not minted for use, although they have the same face value as those in regular use.
• FDC= These are the first coins minted with a new die, before it loses some of the perfection or depth of the reliefs.
• BU= Uncirculated coins, with a special polishing to increase their shine.
• SC= Of absolute perfection, but with somewhat softer reliefs than the uncirculated coins.
• EBC= Coins that are almost in mint condition, but show signs of having been circulated or mishandled at the mint, or if they show a strong patina even though they retain their original lustre.
• MBC= Pieces that have been circulated but have very well preserved reliefs, even if the most prominent details show initial wear.
• BC= Pieces that are quite worn, especially on the figure, but still have the legend and date more or less visible. Also includes those with heavy rust marks or deep patina.
• RC= Completely worn pieces that still allow some details to be guessed for cataloguing. Not normally of collectible value, unless they are very rare pieces. Includes bent and split pieces.
• MC= Pieces so worn or patinated that they are unrecognisable and their value or type can only be guessed by size, weight, metal, etc.
• In addition, the quality may be indicated by the symbols + or - to further specify the condition of the item.
