Original 10 inch x 8 inch Still of PETER SELLERS, BERNARD MILES & MARGARET RUTHERFORD in the 1957 Basil Dearden Comedy THE SMALLEST SHOW ON EARTH, written by William Rose.
Text attached to reverse: ”THE SMALLEST SHOW ON EARTH”, a Ralph-Dearden production for Launder and Gilliat, stars Virginia McKenna, Bill Travers, Margaret Rutherford, Peter Sellers and Bernard Miles. Taking a light-hearted view of the film industry, the British Lion release tells how a young married couple, Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, inherit the Bijou Kinema, affectionately known among the inhabitants of a North Country town as the Fleapit.
NEW PROJECTORS. “I’ve got to have new projectors,” demands Quill (Peter Sellers) of Mrs. Fazackalee (Margaret Rutherford) whilst Old Tom (Bernard Lee) demands a new uniform, in a free-for-all argument that ensues when they learn the Bijou Kinema is being reopened, in “THE smallest SHOW ON EARTH.”
