Original British 11 1/2 inch x 7 5/8 inch Trade Advertisement for the 1949 Michael Anderson & Peter Ustinov Wartime Comedy PRIVATE ANGELO, based on the novel by Eric Linklater and starring Godfrey Tearle, Maria Denis, Peter Ustinov, Marjorie Rhodes, Harry Locke, Bill Shine, Rupert Davies, James Robertson Justice, Arthur Howard and Peter Jones.

Satiric tragicomedy of a cowardly soldier who inherits a castle in Italy and finds himself unwillingly embroiled in the Nazis search for the castle owner and swept up into the march on Rome.

Artwork by William John Philpin Jones ‘Jon’ (1913 - 1992). A renowned cartoonist, producing over 15,000 cartoons in his life covering politics, current affairs and sport. Jon worked at the Sunday Pictorial, the News Chronicle and, for over 20 years, at the Daily Mail. His best-known cartoon characters were 'The Two Types', a pair of army captains, devised by him while serving in the Desert Campaign. In 1966 Jones was one of the founder members of the British Cartoonists' Association, and the Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain voted him Topical and Sports Cartoonist of the Year.
