Text from the free encyclopedia WIKIPEDIA may appear below to give a little background information (internal links may not  work) :

*************

Braddan Bridge (IrishNaomh Breandán Saint Brendan of Clonfert the Navigator or the Voyager)[1] is a bridge over the river Dhoo on the Douglas-Peel road, from which a halt on the Isle of Man Railway's first line to Peel took its name. It is a landmark on the Isle of Man TTroad-race course.

The bridge is on the boundary between the parishes of Braddan and Onchan. It is situated between the 1st Milestone and 2nd Milestone road-side markers on the Snaefell Mountain Course used for the Isle of Man TT Races on the junction of the primary A1 Douglas to Peelroad and the A23. The stretch of line from the halt to Quarterbridge forms part of an access road which allows motor traffic to pass between the inside and outside of the race course, when the main road is closed for the races.

William Joseph DunlopOBE (25 February 1952 – 2 July 2000), was a world champion motorcyclist from Ballymoney in Northern Ireland. In 2005 he was voted the fifth greatest motorcycling icon ever by Motorcycle News.[1] His achievements include three hat-tricks at the Isle of Man TT meeting (1985, 1988 and 2000), where he won a record 26 races in total. During his career he won the Ulster Grand Prix 24 times. In 1986 he won a fifth consecutive TT Formula One world title.

He was awarded the MBE in 1986 for his services to the sport, and in 1996 he was awarded the OBE for his humanitarian work for children in Romanian orphanages, to which he had delivered clothing and food.[2]

The new documentary, Road, based on the life of Joey Dunlop and his brothers was released in the UK on the 11th June 2014.
