• Comments: This leaflet is what one received at the entrance to the castle when buying a ticket. It has a QR code for further information, and logos for “Flickr”, “YouTube”, “Facebook” and “Twitter” as well as Cadw and the “Welsh Government”, on the front cover. The leaflet is bilingual in English and Welsh. The castle started off as a motte and bailey around the 11^th century and then got refurbished by King Edward I. It was then ram-sacked and taken over by Madog ap Llyweln, before returning to English ownership in 1295. The castle featured in some other skirmishes, and was a significant fortress held by the Royalists during the English Civil War. The only other most notable events were the Investitures of the Princes of Wales in 1911 and 1969. The latter was televised and seen by 200 million viewers across the world.
