Title: One Wedding & Fifty Funerals
Plot: The town of Blood Creek, Texas is aflame. Jonah Hex stands against seven men. He kills six of them before his bullets run out. Flash back one week to the wedding of Peter and Mararet Drecker. Jonah Hex is there to take Peter Drecker back to El Paso and collect a bounty. Peter has agreed to cooperate if Hex allows him to get married first. Hex has agreed. During the wedding reception, a jilted suitor of Margaret's appears with some friends. Hex saves Margaret from a bullet from the man's gun and fights them off. The next morning in El Paso, Hex turns in Peter Drecker's body, because he was killed in the raid on the wedding the previous day. In town, he discovers that Drecker is not the true outlaw, he just looks much like the fugitive the sheriff has already caught and obtained a confession from. Hex informs the sheriff of who killed Drecker, an innocent man, and that Hex will be bringing him in for a bounty. One week later, Hex chases the killer into Blood Creek, Texas, where he is shot upon entering the town by several men with rifles. The men also shoot Hex's horse. It seems that this group of men have run off the entire town of Blood Creek to possess the oil rig in the town. Lighting strikes the rig, setting it aflame and Hex starts shooting. He shoots six men and runs out of bullets. The seventh foe mocks Hex as he takes up his rifle. Hex digs around in his pocket, finding a deputy's star, which he throws at his opponent, blinding the man's left eye. He then rushes the man and drives the star into his brain, killing him. Hex collects his bounty and takes the body back to the widow, to give her some closure. He arrives to find that Margaret has taken her own life.

We do not list ANY comics as Mint condition. In our view this grade does not exist. Comic books are mass produced paper items, handled many times often with little care before even reaching the shop or newsstand to be offered for sale. EVERY COMIC even a brand new one will have some form of minor defect if you get out a magnifying glass and look closely enough.
If you are intent on finding comic book perfection, or CGC guaranteed results, it would probably be best to view the comics in person at our store before bidding!
It is an unfortunate truth that the established back issue grading system is misleading to new comers. Both Good & Fair are low grades. For this reason we have provided the chart below. If you are unsure what to expect from grades like VFN+ and G-, just refer to the chart. All you need to remember is that 100% is brand new while 5% has been through the washing machine. Everything else comes in steps between.
The best way to use this chart is to think of it as top middle and bottom. This enables even a layman to visualise the condition of the comic.
Near Mint (NM) = 100% As new. High grade comic.
Near Mint Minus (NM-) 90% Almost perfect. High grade comic.
Very Fine Plus (VFN+) = 80% Almost perfect. High grade comic appearing Near mint at first glance but with one or two minor flaws upon closer inspection.
Very Fine (VFN) = 75% High to Mid grade comic. Appearing almost Near Mint at first glance but with two to three minor flaws upon closer inspection.
Very Fine Minus (VFN-) = 70% High to Mid grade comic. Nice condition comic with slight signs of very minor wear.
Middle Minor damage & wear apparent but still sound comics
Fine Plus (FN+) = 65% Mid grade comic. Several signs of wear and age apparent at first glance. May include slight spine wear or minor creases, but still retains good eye appeal.
Fine (FN) = 60% Mid grade comic. Several signs of wear and age apparent at first glance. May include slight spine wear or minor creases, but still retains good eye appeal. Sound mid grade book.
Fine Minus (FN-) = 50% Mid grade comic. Some age and wear apparent at first glance including minor creases, small nicks or evidence of label removal.
Very Good Plus (VG+) = 40% Mid to Lower grade comic showing showing some evidence of having been used without much care. Defects apparent include spine wear and fairly minor creases. Still sound.
Very Good (VG) = 35% Mid to Low grade comic exhibiting quite a few defects, though still complete and sound.
Bottom Beaten damaged worn and abused comics
Very Good Minus (VG-) = 30% Lower grade comic. Various defects apparent including tears, nicks, loose staples or creases.
Good Plus (G+) = 25% Low grade comic. Various defects apparent including tears, nicks, loose staples or creases.
Good (G) = 20% Low grade used comic. Various defects apparent including tears, nicks, loose staples creases or small pieces missing.
Good Minus (G-) = 15% Low grade used comic. Heavily worn comic.
Fair (Fair) = 10% Worn and battered low grade used comic. Heavily worn comic.
Poor (Poor) = 5% Worn and battered low grade used comic. Very heavily worn comic.
