RA*(N)  This is a beautiful undated but modern published official postcard from Londons Royal Academy Of Arts for this historic painting by Henry Raeburn called Boy & Rabbit from 1814 with artist details, dates, dimensions etc & Royal Academy Of Arts logo on reverse being the official souvenir from when exhibited unused and mint.

The sitter, Henry Raeburn Inglis, was the son of Raeburns stepdaughter and a great favourite with the painter. He is shown placing a protective arm around his pet rabbit as he feeds it dandelion leaves. The boys proximity to the picture plane and Raeburns broad handling of the landscape suggests a familiarity and ease which would have been more restrained in a commissioned portrait. It also allows Raeburn to demonstrate his virtuoso handling of paint, particularly evident in the treatment of the boys shirt.
