Original French 11 inch x 15 1/4 inch page with printed photograph titled DANS UNE TRANCHEE CONQUISE (LE 6 JUIN) AU SAILLANT DE QUENNEVIERES
French soldiers in a captured trench during the Battle of Quennevières, 6th to 16th June 1915, during the First World War. “An episode of the battle: the commander of one of the assault battalions who wanted to see everything before and after the attack which for hours moved in all directions in the half-curved trenches at a gymnastic pace has just felt after the success his forces momentarily betray him; he is not wounded but he is exhausted and we see here his orderly kneeling conscientiously massaging the valiant officer who a moment later began to lead the organization of the trenches taken from the enemy.”
