The catalogue introduces the exhibits of the exhibition of the same name, which took place at the State Hermitage, showing books from imperial libraries in two collections: the State Hermitage and the Russian National Library. The exhibits include personal books by Russian emperors and members of their families, trays and gifts, diplomatic gifts, textbooks, books from historically established collections, such as the libraries of Voltaire, Didro, Pogodin, Sukhtelen, and others.
