Original U.S. 27 inch x 41 inch 1-Sheet Poster for the 1977 Sidney Lumet Drama EQUUS, based on the play by Peter Shaffer and starring Richard Burton, Peter Firth, Colin Blakely, Joan Plowright, Harry Andrews and Jenny Agutter.

Alan Strang, a disturbed boy, blinds six horses in the stable where he works and is referred to Dysart for a psychiatric report. The doctor unravels a complex web of religion and sexuality. Alan worships the God 'Equus', and Dysart begins to envy the boy for the purity of his passion.

The poster art is by Robert "Bob" M. Peak (1927 - 1992). Bob Peak is best known for his developments in the design of the modern American movie poster. He was born in Denver, Colorado and graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, California in 1951. In 1961 United Artists hired Peak to design the poster images for the film West Side Story. The success of Peak's work on that film led to work on posters for designer Bill Gold, including the big-budget musicals My Fair Lady and Camelot. In the mid-1970s Peak's style would become familiar to fans of science fiction films when he created the poster art for the futuristic film Rollerball (1975), which was followed by the first five Star Trek films, Superman (1978), Excalibur (1981), Apocalypse Now (1979), The Spy Who Loved Me and other James Bond concepts.

The poster is in very good folded condition with a slight mark in the white area lower left.
