Edward Heath Prime Minster Sri Lanka MP Death Old Hand Signed Letter to WW2 Doct

CHAU3347   Antique letter from London's Foreign Office dated 23rd January 1961 where Edward Heath has personally written to a WW2 decorated Military Cross Doctor and thanking him for his help with one of his personal friends and historic Sri Lankan poltician and lawyer Uda Walawwe Bernard Herbert Aluwihare (see history notes below) in what proved to be his end of life care.  It is personally autographed by Edward Heath and you will never get a better autograph opportunity than on official Lord Privy Seal headed paper from the Foreign Office with the blue crest.  Nor will you surely ever find an earlier autograph opportunity for Edward Heath who later became Prime Minster as this dates approx 65 years ago).  Bar centrally folded where it was originally posted (which is how I will send) and a little handling it is mostly great condition (vg+ grading).

This came from the private collection from the estate of Doctor Elston Grey-Turner CBE MC TD (16 August 1916 20 January 1984) who was a British medical doctor who served in World War II and was on the staff of the British Medical Association for many years. He joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and served as regimental medical officer to the 2nd Battalion of the Coldstream Guards 19421945. He was awarded the Territorial Decoration, and also the Military Cross.

Uda Walawwe Bernard Herbert Aluwihare also known as Bernard Aluwihare was a Sri Lankan lawyer and politician who served in both the State Council of Ceylon and Parliament of Sri Lanka. He was a Sri Lankan Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament from Matale.
