Säljarens Beskrivning
Original 9 5/8 inch x 6 3/4 inch 1879 Etching titled BOURSE DE LILLE.
The Vieille Bourse (Old Stock Exchange) in Lille is the former building of the Lille Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is located between the Grand Place and the Place du Théâtre and is considered to be one of the landmarks of the city centre. The building is in the form of a quadrangle, made up of 24 identical houses enclosing an inner courtyard, which serves as a meeting place for booksellers, florists, chess players and tourists.
Drawn and etched by Dieudonné Auguste Lancelot (1822 - 1894). A French lithographer, engraver and illustrator. He was a pupil of Anne-François Arnaud, from Troyes, and exhibited at the Salon periodically, from 1853 to 1876. He illustrated publications such as “Le Tour du monde”, “Le Magasin picturesque”, “Le Monde illustré”, “Les Jardins”, and “Guides-Itinéraire” and the “Guides-Cicerone du Paris illustré,” a guide for travelers (1855) with Émile Thérond.
Engraving from a disbound copy of ‘La Renaissance en France’ by Leon Palustre. Published by A Quantin, Imprimeur-Editeur, 7, Rue Saint-Benoit, Paris, 1879. Printed by A. Quantin.
