Hand made high quality Turret Boards for classic FENDER Amplifiers!!

This is the amp that started it all! The classic Fender Bassman 5F6A set the standard for guitar amps for years to come and was very much the inspiration for the Marshall JTM45 amplifiers that followed.

Note that the layout of this board has now been revised from our ealier version to provide improved earthing, so check below for the connections.

Presented here as a ready assembled fibreglass board for the first time from Jellyfish Audio in its original format but with turrets instead of the strange "eyelet sandwich" boards preferred by Fender back then, this capacitor board is the companion board to our 5F6A amplifier turret board and provides the HT smoothing and filtering for the main board. Also correct for the High Power Twin 5F8 / 5F8A model.

We can supply individual hand wired Turret Boards fully loaded with high quality, high voltage components to help you convert a modern PCB based amplifier into a turretboard handwired version, or to build a hand wired Bassman clone. We can also help you with help and advice whilst you are building your amplifier, and provide copies of typical layout diagrams. 

This board is a 85mm x 46mm turretboard built on 2.0mm thick Fibre Glass sheet in very deep dark brown, almost black. It is fitted with sturdy turret lugs standing 8.4mm above the board, fully wired and tested and ready to use.

This board is fitted with 2 x 22uF capacitors @ 450V and 2 x 22uF capacitors rated at 500V, with a bleed resistor fitted so the full HT is safely drained back to zero a while after the amp is switched off.

Referring to the drawing above, the bottom row of pins (Capacitor positive ends) are wired from left to right as follows;

A  is  wired to the feed point for the push/pull output transformer windings, which is the centre of the primary winding and this supply provides the anodes of the output valves. Also feeds the power choke.

B filters the supply for the screens of the output valves.

C filters the supply for the Phase Inverter (and hence the preamp stages).

The upper row of pins (capacitor negative ends) are both ground points and for best hum reduction should be wired separately via two short thick wires to the common chassis star ground point.
