Original British 20 inch x 30 inch Double Crown Poster for the 1949 Charles Frend Ealing Comedy A RUN FOR YOUR MONEY starring Donald Houston, Moira Lister, Alec Guinness, Meredith Edwards, Hugh Griffith, Joyce Grenfell, Leslie Perrins, Edward Rigby, Mackenzie Ward, Patric Doonan and Marianne Stone.

The fourth Ealing comedy of 1949 follows two callow Welsh miners who win a prize of a trip to London in a newspaper competition. On arrival, they are supposed to be looked after by the paper’s incompetent gardening correspondent (Guinness). However they get mixed up with con artists and other urban distractions.

The poster art is by Matvyn Wright. Born in Camden, London in 1910 Wright studied at the Royal College of Art and became a painter and illustrator. He joined the Auxiliary Fire Service at the outbreak of the war and exhibited in the Fireman artist exhibitions at the time. He was on the animation crew for Halas & Batchelor's classic Animal Farm and went on to illustrate the Andy Pandy comic strip in the Robin annuals of the mid-1950s.
