1. What Exoderyl is and what it is used for
Exoderyl 1% solution is suitable for the treatment of fungal infections and contains naphthyphenine. It is active against skin fungus, yeast, mold, etc. It is also active against various bacterial infections that often occur in fungal infections in humans.
Exoderyl is used to treat fungal infections of the feet, especially between the fingers, the lower part of the foot (they differ as redness, peeling and swelling or itchy blisters) and the nails.
2. What you need to know before you use Exoderyl
Do not use Exoderyl
• if you are allergic to naphthifin or any of the excipients described in section 6.
Warnings and precautions:
At the first sign of side effects, please tell your doctor. Do not use Exoderyl solution if you are allergic.
Duration of treatment:
Treatment with Exoderil should be continued at the same dose for at least two weeks after removal of the infection to prevent recurrence.
If no clinical improvement is observed within 4 weeks, you should consult your doctor and have the treatment reviewed.

Paediatric population:
The safety and efficacy of naphthyfin in children and adolescents below 18 years of age have not been established. Not enough data available.
Patients with impaired renal or hepatic function:
No dose adjustment is necessary.
Patients should be informed of usual hygiene measures to avoid sources of infection and re-infection.

Other medicines and Exoderyl:
No interactions with other drugs are known.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
Studies have not been conducted to establish the influence of Exoderyl 1% solution on fertility.
Experience with the use of naphthifin in pregnant women is very limited. Animal studies have not shown direct or indirect harmful effects associated with reproductive toxicity.
With proper administration, this medicinal product is not expected to affect the foetus or newborn. Teratogenicity studies did not prove an embryotoxic effect of naphthyphine.
With proper administration, the drug does not have a damaging effect on the fetus or newborn.
As a precautionary measure, the use of Exoderyl 1% solution during pregnancy and lactation should be avoided.
This medicinal product contains propylene glycol and ethanol:
50 mg propylene glycol and 400 mg ethanol are contained in 1 ml solution. Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.
Ethanol can cause burning on damaged skin.
Avoid contact with eyes or open wounds.
3. How to use Exoderyl
If not otherwise prescribed, follow the recommended dosages carefully. Exoderyl 1% solution is applied to the affected areas once a day. These areas should be cleaned and dried carefully before applying the solution.
Despite the rapid improvement of symptoms (itching, redness, etc.), it is important for patients with fungal skin infections to continue their treatment for 2 weeks after the symptoms have completely subsided to prevent them from returning.
Before and after the treatment of fungal infection, the nails should be kept as short as possible, and their surface painted. Fungal nail infections should be treated for several months until a healthy nail grows.
In order to cure the fungal infection (mycosis) as soon as possible, please tick the following:
The microorganisms causing the fungal infection can attach to parts of clothing that are in contact with the affected areas. That is why they need to be changed daily.
A normal and especially dry skin surface is the best protection against fungal infections. Avoid wearing narrow and poorly ventilated clothing (e.g. synthetic socks and narrow shoes) on the affected areas. You should also dry the affected areas carefully after washing. Towels should be changed daily.
If you have a fungal infection of the feet, do not go barefoot at home, in swimming pools or e.g. in a hotel. This prevents the infection from spreading to others, especially your re-infection.
Do not visit a sauna or steam bath until the fungal infection is completely clear.
Method of administration:
The solution can be applied directly from the vial using a guttant or on a piece of cotton.
