2010 Machin Security 2nd Class With MA10 and MTIL in Overprint. Fine Used.

As I had no reply most unusual, I suspect you never received my question. I had asked if you had a 2nd class with type 2 U cuts. To add further fun it looks as if you have two different types of perforation, a rounded end and a blunt end. Trying to find out about the U cuts I have found out Walsall has 3 different die cuts. Hi Chris, you're right, I didn't get your first message, and apologize for delay replying tot second. Broke bone in myankle recently aand am stumbling about a bit. the first security stamps had the U shape slit with an upside down U over to resemble a running track. This was change around 2012 to four J slits to give the same track shape with less chance of leaving the tag on the backing paper. I have all types on stock but suggest you check your items, perhaps with a magnifier. Yes, Walsaal does have several die cutting shapes but use the rounded perf on UK issues. The bluntedge is nomally used by De La Rue. SG used to list these separately no lately don,t seem to bother,. The last most noticeable being 2012 Diamond Jubilee 1st Class LBE by Walsall or De La Rue. I hope this helps. Regard, Barry

Hi again, not quite sure what you mean by type 2 and 2a as SG Concise, the catalogue i work from, does not list these. I have MA10 - T off paper with U slits and on paper with J slits.I have all others on paper with J slits. i hope this helps again. B

Hello Barry, I have a sheet which Sutton Stamps sent me. First they describe the "U" slits as paper clip type which I suppose they are that type of shape. Type 1 is shown as a connection on each of the vertical sides. Type 2 has the same on the vertical sides but with a wide fix at the top and bottom. Type 2a difference to type 2 is that the top and bottom fix is very narrow. Type 3 has the same vertical sides and has a wide fix at the bottom. To make matters worse I did see one dealer who had reversed type 2 and 2a. I believe the description given is the correct as other sites have used the same. Hopefully I have not muddied the waters further. If I have I will seek the assistance of a son and get a copy forwarded to you. The only thing is that it would not be until next week as I am away for a couple of days. I await to hear from you. Regards, Chris
