"We, George Paley of Bank Top Mills, Preston, in the County of Lancaster, Cotton Spinner and Manufacturer, and James Anderton Sutcliffe, of Globe Works, Blackburn, in the same County, Sheet Metal Engineer, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows: The object of our invention is to provide the heads or flanges of wonders' and other bobbins with a buffer or cushioning devi8ce for preventing the said bobbin heads or flanges from being broken or injured when thrown down on the floor or the like..."
