"Letters Patent to Joseph Toussaint of Alum Rock, Upper Saltley near Birmingham in the County of Warwick, Scientific Chemist...The object of this Invention is to construct the stacks or walls of furnaces above referred to with an annular or other shaped chamber betwene the outer wall and the linking, said lining having openings between each fire brick or between every two or more...".
