Seller's Description

NHL Pro Set 1990 Hockey Trading Card #585 1990-91 Team Facts Washington Capitals

I acquired this card from an estate sale.

Washington Capitals 1990-91 Team Facts. Card #585 from the 1990 NHL Pro Set.

The front of the card has a picture of Washington Capitals logo, the rear of the card has the Capitols'facts and brief history.

From the rear of the card:

Washington Capitals

1990-91 Team Facts

FOUNDED: June 11, 1972, by contractor and NBA franchise owner Abe Pollin, who won out over 11 other applicants for an NHL expansion franchise to play in the planned Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland.

FIRST NHL GAME: October 9,1974.

TEAM HISTORY: Since their inception the Capitals have played in the $18 million Capital Centre. Milt Schmidt, Hall of Fame center, was their first general manager. But the team didn't become a winner until Bryan Murray became coach in 1981, and David Poile took the general manager's job in 1982. Eleven days on the job, David acquired Rod Langway from Montreal. The Caps made the playoffs in 1983 and haven't missed them since. On April 18, 1987, the Caps played one of the most memorable playoff games in recent years, a seventh game that the New York Islanders won in four overtimes at the Capital Centre.

NHLPLAYOFFS(B): 1983through 1990.
DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP (1): 1989.
TOP COACH: Bryan Murray.
GREATPLAYERS: Bob Carpenter, Mike Gartner, Doug Jarvis, AI Jensen, Rod Langway, Dennis Maruk, Larry Murphy, Robert Picard, Pat Riggin, Scott Stevens, Ryan Walter.

The card measures 3-7/16 inches (8.9 cm) in X 2-15/32 inch (6.4 cm).

The card is in good condition. (See pictures).
