Have just discovered that this vintage powder compact [probably was my grandmother's] has a Silver hallmark on the base.
As I know nothing about hallmarks, can anyone help?
Many thanks, Ann.

The anchor shows that it's a Birmingham hall mark.
T&S could be Turner & Simpson..

Doing a search on another auction site for Turner Simpson compact will give you a pleasant surprise

Found a match that agrees it is Turner & Simpson:
Thank you for your help Graham & Mel.
As my grandparents were married in October 1912, I've often wondered if this was a wedding present to my grandmother.
Will see if I can get better photographs of the hallmark, but they are quite worn.
As said, you can likely make it out better than we ever could from a photograph.
It's in a shield so, apart from a few orphans, that puts it between 1900 and 1950. It looks to be a capital - but hard to tell for sure, it looks rounded (e.g. G Q O U) but, again, hard to be sure from the photo.
Look here: https://assayofficebirmingham.com/se...g/date-letters and try to make the match.
