Re Handmade Goods - have been thinking it would make more sense to classify the cards by occasion rather than technique.

    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Birthday
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Baby
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Wedding
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Anniversary
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Valentines Day
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Mothers Day
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Easter
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Christmas
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Get Well
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Sympathy
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>General/Other

    Too much?

    I'm not sure...

what about Fathers Day...and... Thank you, Congratulations etc...

But then again I don't have much preference as to how its split, because I always list my handmade cards in the greeting cards category where I think people are more likely to look for a card...

This is what the handmade cat would look like....with Fathers day etc added...I actually prefer this way:

    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Birthday
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Baby
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Congratulations
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Thank you
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Wedding
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Anniversary
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Valentines Day
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Mothers Day
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Fathers Day
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Easter
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Christmas
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Get Well
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>Sympathy
    Crafts & Sewing>Handmade Goods>Cards>General/Other
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Handpainted
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Needlework>Cross-stitch
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Needlework>Tapestry/Needlepoint
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Needlework>Embroidery
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Needlework>Other
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Knitted/Crochet
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Lace
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Jewellery
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Clay/Salt-dough
    Crafts and Sewing>Handmade Goods>Other

I don't think its too much because when you click on the Handmade goods cat you would only see

    Handmade goods>Cards
    Handmade goods>Handpainted
    Handmade goods>Needlework
    Handmade goods>Knitted/Crochet
    Handmade goods>Lace
    Handmade goods>Jewellery
    Handmade goods>Clay/Saltdough
    Handmade goods>Other

Each sub cat would only be broken down when you click through...

Makes sense to me. Good that those who use the categories imput on how the divisions should go. While I myself hate lots of divisions, this is a very popular area and those cats will fill up fast. Handmade cards are an especially hot crafting item nowadays.

Lets wait a bit more, to see if someone else has any additions.

Shame on me for forgetting about the Dads!
I had intended General to cover thank you, congrats, good luck, etc. Wasn't sure whether to have General instead of Other or as well as.

Don't want to sound ungrateful but categories are not actually where we asked. Plastic Canvas has its own subcat, as does Needlepoint, but cross-stitch, embroidery and tapestry have been put under Sewing & Embroidery.
Think it had been agreed that tapestry and needlepoint were the same thing, and everyone had wanted all the needlework categories together, but separate from Sewing?
