The ones that I am refering to, that I think should be closed altogether, Raindropsies are the ones where the sellers are no longer a seller but have down graded to buyer level.

There is nothing unfair about removing those adverts as you can't contact the person or buy the item as they are no longer a registered seller !

I also agree with your idea Raindropsies that sellers that have not bothered to log in for months should have a check to see if they are still active.

A couple of points to go with what has gone before.

A Seller+ on a short term subscription does not always choose to revert to Buyer status. If there is any delay or problem with the subscription renewal then they get downgraded to Buyer. I have said before that this makes no sense. If they must be downgraded they should revert to Seller status and not Buyer. Once they are Buyer they can do nothing with their listings. They likely can't even action an attempted purchase.

If you are going to force people to log in then there will have to be some form of time out on the 'Keep me logged in' option. I can go weeks without logging out and in.

I agree, and have said for a long time, that something needs to be done about Run Until Sold (RUS). There needs to be some way to refresh an account to prove the seller is still active. If not then all RUS listings should be closed. Though, personally, I wouldn't be bothered to see RUS removed from the system altogether as it is at the root of most problems in this area.

I like run till sold and do use it for some items.
For myself I try to remember to log out and the back in every few days. I will check out a seller+ before I buy to make sure they have logged in recently. It is not so easy with sellers but their feedback can give some idea of how often they frequent the site.

Well from a security point of view I think 24 hours is ample, personally I don't tick this box and log in every 3ish hours so my stores show last logged in at xxxx which is normally less than 3 hours ago (unless I am sleeping)

I would love a feature on eBid where you can see when any seller or seller+ last logged in rather than just having this for when a seller+ has a store.

I don't think that the 'run until sold' needs to be done away with ...... but what needs addressing is the difference between 'run until sold' where the buyer is present and the 'run until sold' where the buyer is absent and has disappeared in a cloud of dust over the horizon never to be seen again! Those adverts have a knock on affect for every genuine seller's trade on eBid by diminishing new buyer's confidence.

I don't think any "listing choice" should be done away with either, even the on first bid auctions as both on first bid & run-til sold have got me some bargains on eBid. However I would not use on first bid as a listing choice for one of my listings and Ionly use run-til sold very rarely

I very much agree with all that you have said. I especially think that the distinction you make - which I have highlighted in bold - is the crux of the matter, in terms of Run Until Sold.

Thank you Victor. As eBid has said my comments would be reviewed it would be really helpful if others could spare two minutes to email support if similar problems have been experienced. Maybe if enough comments were made at this stage they might think the site is large enough now to incorporate some changes without it affecting the listing figures too much.

Getting those useless listings removed would have a chain reaction. Buyers would be happy and stay to use the site again in the future and if there are more buyers then fresh sellers would join to fill the gaps where the useless listings have been pulled. It's just a matter of eBid plucking up the courage to make a clean sweep !
