Default HTML does not appear correctly

As a newbie to ebid I need some listing help, please.
I generate my html ad content from templates so I consider that constant. I can find NO problems by examining the html code.... but what I see on ebid is not what I see when I display it on my browser or upload it to ebay.
For example: Most of my comments are treated as such, but one is displayed on ebid. (i.e. <!*-- COMMENT --> without the imbedded asterisk). I find entire section of my ad missing.
My content is not too long and does not contain any scripts.
I have compared what I sent to ebid, what the ebid editor says I have and what ebid exports to my request... and all look identical.
Can anybody shed some light? Thanks in advance.
    Rick

Have you got any email addresses or other at symbols in there? Because emails aren't allowed these get stripped, and the stripping appears to be a bit OTT sometimes.

    Thanks for the reply.
No at signs, no email addresses.
I do have my phone number, but since I sell sporting event tickets, it is sometimes essential that I get contacted quickly.
If some of my content was removed then I could get my arms around all this, but it all seems to be present when I go in to edit.

If you have a listing running, or can post one, that you know is displaying the errant behaviour then let us have the listing id number. Then we can look at the code to see if we can spot what is going wrong.

Hi Rick, I don't see anything wrong with your listings other than links to ebay on two of them. Better get rid of them before admin spot it.

Listing #15701536 is a good example. I went into it earlier and modified some 'loose' html (like trailing </tr>'s). Also I removed any remaining references to my about me page on ebay.

Listing #15692018 shows a visible comment. (this ad has not yet been modified for compliance).

Where? I am not seeing any comment lines.

Your template throws up a few errors (40+) on validation though. You may like to try running it through http://validator.w3.org/ and see if cleaning those up makes things any better.

Just ran a listing with no description through the validator - to see how compliant eBid's basic page was before the user added to it.

Shame on you eBid! Over 2,500 errors.

I don't see any comment lines, but am certainly getting odd results. In Firefox I see what appears to be a full listing, with all black next. In Chrome I see a large white space, then the payments text onwards, all in colour. All is not well with this listing!

Well.... I don't know if I have good news or bad news.
It appeared that I was hallucinating, since I was the only one to see the problem... so I tried Internet Explorer. My ads look just fine.
That leaves me very puzzled... since Firefox has never had a problem with my html in the past.
I did check the page against the validation tool suggested above. It had thousands of complaints, but many were due to capitalization of tokens (<LI> instead of <li>).

    Rick
