Default New Category For Charity Auctions

I would like to request a new category under "Auctions For Charity". Please add the category "Community Development"

Subcategories for "Community Development" could be
    a) youth development/ b) leadership development/
    c) enterprise development

Thank you for your consideration of this category request.

I agree with community development, but I don't think eBid should start sub cats for charity section, I think this would open the floodgates and be a bad thing. for example if you get the sub cats for community development, then admin should do sub cats for other main charity sections, so animals could have a big big list, cancer could have a big list too as there are a fair few cancer charities

You have a good point there. I set the request up that way after looking at the Gazza's example. Sub-cats may work best for non-charity categories. Definitely would like to see a Community Development Category.

I think this raises, again, the whole question of how charity listings appear on ebid. I would like to see a charity marker and no special categories...

I agree with Madelaine - a Marker on listings would probably get more views anyway!

I prefer categories because it makes it clearer what the cause is; if markers are preferred I would think people could add them to their listing. Although I haven't quite been able to figure out what a marker is. There are already categories for charities, so I don't see any problem with adding another. Just my opinion.

I think charity sellers will be losing sales because browsers will never find their stuff. If somebody searches for a widget, they'll all come up fine. But anybody who looks for items by browsing will go straight to the appropriate category and never see the charity items. If I think I want to buy a book, I'll paddle in the book categories, but it would never occur to me to look in the charity section. I certainly wouldn't go shopping by charity type. However, if I looked at books and saw half-a-dozen, one of which had a small symbol to say it was a charity sale, I might well be prompted to buy that one ahead of the others, since it was for a good cause.

Depends on how it's listed Kimbo! Auctions can be listed by their main category and also be elected to show up in their store (charity). I really don't want to get lost in the frost. Does anyone know the best way to get a simple suggestion to Gazza for consideration. Would appreciate any pearls of wisdom in accomplishing this specific task. Thank you.

This board is the official way to get suggestions to ebid management.
