once your logged in to google base you can deactivate delete add item. by checking the little box next to your item. so if you upload the whole lot from here in one hit you can sort as above

When I upload does everything get uploaded or just stuff that is not already on google base? In other words we added a load more stock over the past two days and if I do the manual upload will I end up with the new stock plus two lots of the old stock on there or is there some sort of overide? I have looked on Google but can't find the answer.
When you upload a new file to Google Base (GB) it overwrites whatever is currently there. So:

    • Anything that is already on GB that is not in the new file will be deleted from GB.
    • Anything in the new file that is not already on GB will be added to GB.
    • Anything already on GB that is also in the new file will be overwritten by what is in the new file.

    So basicly,
It clears whatever is on there,
    and loads everything from scratch.

So that everything is up to date.

That's what I was saying but you know me...a bit of a windbag. Why use only 5 words when 50 are available.

I know your vocabulary is vastly superior to mine.
I'm just your basic down to earth type of guy.

I just feel this is sooooooo important for sellers and the credibility of the site when e*b*y stuff is all over it. By the way I'm an Irish/Welsh cross so perhaps that's why I give up unlike a true Englishman!!!

It's that time of the year.

It was around this time in 2006 + 2007 + 2008 that fleabay had nig problems with sudden traffic and bid drops and blamed it on Google changing their algorithms and biorhythms

Of course, it later transpired that for 2007 at least, it was nothing to do with the googlie-verse, but was in fact due to a certain pink Truss & Safety Pin person suggesting to Santa Jose that cutting trans-Atlantik visibility would cause the ability to re-introduce it for a fee later - - - which is exactly what they did of course.

However, where eBid listings could be getting slaughtered on googlist search results is in relation to "item specifics" - one of the reasons fleabay has so heavily pushed their use and so severely culled sub-categories is because Googly now demands the use of item details such as colour, size, weight, manufacturer, model number etc. when submitting to Base and Shopping.

eBid does not yet have a system in place to add those details, which is where the murky side is carving eBid up on search results. Even on newer sites like the Ranch, they have work arounds in place in that you can use a special coding form to add the item details in "hidden" form within the code of your item description - e.g. you could use [[color]] [[red]] (hope that shows properly in the forum) and it will embed behind the description, unseen to browsers and buyers, but Googull will pick it up for search categorisation.

As I said above, it's usually around this time of year that googl-rhythms get disrupted, so be prepared for a month of chaos and strange search result rankings.
