Thread: Description Error--never saw this one before

  1. #1

Default Description Error--never saw this one before

Whew this is a new one. I am getting a warning that my description must be between 5 and 40000 characters, which it is.

It won't accept my description....just started happening.

It fixed itself by itself. I love computer magic.

What is the auction number of it after it successfully uploaded?

Looking at some of your listings it appears you are using a Microsoft application to create them. Microsoft products are renowned for including a tremendous amount of garbage when they create HTML code. So even though visually there is not a lot of text in your description there is a whole mass more hiding behind the scenes.

I have also had the same problem yesterday.
    Not listed today though.

    Default using microsoft

After losing all of my ads when I relied on a single software program by that auction site, I made a decision to store my ads in word and then port the verbiage to each of my stores.

Ironically, when I copied exactly the same verbiage the warning disappeared so I don't think it was extra code used by MS.

I usually copy and paste from Microsoft Word into the listing process. I have experienced this problem from time to time when trying to edit a listing that has already been created. The quickest way around it has been to create a new listing. I have always suspected it is some problem with coding coming over from Word but I am not a technical expert so could be incorrect about this.

The new beta editor, which Gazza has said will soon be the main one, has a paste from Word function, have you tried to see if using it makes things work better?

I haven't tried OpenOffice yet for creating listings, but just curious to know if the paste from Word function would do the same from Open Office? Anyone?
